The ACIA held the first ever Butch Wyatt Concrete Cup golf tournament on September
26th at Inverness Country Club in Birmingham. The golf tournament was previously
known as the architect appreciation tournament, but was renamed after Butch as a
tribute to his efforts of increasing the concrete industry’s presence with architects and
engineers in the state.
Fifty two architects and engineers attended the inaugural event as well as 20 industry
representatives.
While everyone enjoyed themselves at the event, the team of Tim Aho of Aho Architects,
David Parker of Sherlock Smith and Adams, Berry Hearn of Live Architect, and Ben
Boyd of Big River proved too much for the rest of the field. The foursome shot a 38 in the
rain abbreviated round. Their names will be permanently displayed on the Butch Wyatt
Concrete Cup trophy donated by Big River Industries.
