In years past, concrete masonry was symbolic with a standard grey concrete block.
With continued advancement in the industry, concrete masonry can now be integrally
colored and formed to mimic stone, brick units, or incorporate ribs or scores. With
advancements has come more atheistically pleasing options, but not at the cost of
strength and flexibility.
