The term Concrete Masonry is commonly used within the specification and construction industry to refer to what is known to the public as a Concrete Block or Grey Block. Often times it is incorrectly referred to in the media as a Cinder Block or Cement Block. Both of these terms are incorrect.
In years past, Concrete Masonry was symbolic with a standard grey concrete block. With continued advancement in the industry, concrete masonry can now be integrally colored and formed to mimic stone, brick units, or incorporate ribs or scores. With advancements has come more atheistically pleasing options, but not at the cost of strength and flexibility.
In the last few years, concrete masonry has grown to include products such as Segmental Retaining Walls and Concrete Pavers. This is due to the fact that today’s molding systems allow for a multitude of concrete products to be made in a modern block plant.
