Mark Your Calendar for the Foundation Golf Tournament

The Alabama Concrete Industries Foundation will be holding its 2008 Bi Annual Golf Tournament on April 1, 2008 at Greystone Country Club. The golf tournament is the primary fundraiser for the foundation’s scholarship program. The ACIF currently awards two $8,000 scholarships every year to students from the state of Alabama. The $8,000 scholarships are the largest construction related scholarship in the state.

Invitations will be mailed the first week of February 2008.

Truck Rodeo Scheduled for April 26th, 2008

The Trucking Rodeo Committee has selected the date of April 26th, 2008 to hold the third annual Trucking Rodeo. The event will be moved from the Bessemer Civic Center to Alabama Adventure Amusement Park for this year’s event. The change of venue was made to make the event more family oriented as all people in attendance will be issued a ticket to visit the amusement park.

The trucking rodeo was previously scheduled for May 10th, 2008, but had to be changed due to facility availability.

As was the case in 2007, the top three winners will be presented cash prizes and receive paid travel and housing to attend the National Truck Driver Competition. If you would like to assist with this year’s event, please contact Butch Wyatt at 334-265-0501.

Johnny Canfield Begins Work for the Association

Johnny Canfield has now begun working for the ACIA as its Technical Director. Johnny will assist the association by calling on engineers and architects in the state to educate them on the benefits of using concrete products. Johnny will also assist the association’s membership in addressing common technical problems. He can be reach at canfieldjohnny@bellsouth.net or on the phone at 205-901-9294.
