Block Producers Select Top Block Winner

On January 29th, the ACIA presented the 2009 Top Block Award at the annual AIA Gala Awards Banquet. This is seventh time the association has been provided the opportunity to recognize outstanding masonry design and construction at the prestigious event. The 2009 award was presented by Butch Wyatt to the following winners: Principal Mrs. Jennie Goolsby of Helena Middle School, Shawn Calma of Lathan Associates Architecture, Gary C. Wyatt of Gary C. Wyatt Inc., Jonathan Watts of Selective Masonry, and Bob Smith of Block USA. Winners of the Top Block Award receive a custom designed stone statue, and framed photographs of the winning project.

An estimated 150 guest from across the state attended the event held at the B&A Warehouse in Birmingham.
